Saints hooker Matti Williams will be joining Worcester Warriors this summer.

The Warriors confirmed the signing on Thursday morning, with Williams set to link up with former Northampton players Phil Dowson, GJ van Velze and Ryan Lamb at Sixways.

The 24-year-old, who made his Saints debut in November 2013, has made 18 appearances for the club.

However, he has been unable to get ahead of Dylan Hartley and Mike Haywood and has recently faced competition from Reece Marshall for the third place in the pecking order.

And he is now looking forward to a fresh challenge at Worcester when the season ends.

“I’m a big admirer of what Dean and the coaches are building at Warriors and the facilities and infrastructure are something any aspiring rugby player would want to be part of,” Williams said.

“Everything is in place for the club to succeed and I can’t wait to be a part of what I’m sure is going to be an exciting journey.”

Worcester boss Dean Ryan said: “He is an ambitious young player who has been learning from England’s captain and other international stars which will add further competition to the number two spot as we look to drive standards across the squad.”
