Saints flanker Calum Clark will captain England Saxons against Ireland Wolfhounds on Saturday (kick-off 5pm).

Clark lines up alongside Northampton team-mates Alex Waller and Tom Mercey, with Sam Dickinson named on the bench for the Kingsholm clash.

Clark and Waller will be making their first starts at Saxons level, while Dickinson will be making his first England appearance should he come on at any point.

“Calum Clark has been a positive influence from the moment he arrived in camp,” said Joe Lydon, RFU Head of International Player Development.

“He commands the respect of the group and I’m sure he will lead from the front.”

England Saxons: Daly; Watson, Hopper, Hill, Sharples; Burns, Simpson; Waller, George, Mercey, Matthews, Kruis, Clark (c), Wallace, Ewers.

Replacements: Ward, Catt, Wilson, Stooke, Dickinson, Lewis, Slade, Miller.
