Jim Mallinder has bemoaned Dom Waldouck’s ‘unbelievable’ bad luck after the centre suffered an injury at Sale on Thursday night.

Waldouck, who had been out since injuring his knee at Exeter on February 8, was on the field just four minutes before being stretchered off.

The former Wasps man twisted his knee at a ruck and was in agony as the medical team tended to him.

It was the latest in a long line of injury blows for Waldouck, who missed the end of last season after ripping his hamstring from the bone during a training session.

And Mallinder said: “It’s unbelievable luck really. He’s missed most of this season with injury, just worked his way back and he was on the field five minutes.

“It’s really, really unfortunate but hopefully it’s not too bad.

“Dom was smiling afterwards. We’re hoping it’s not anything worse than that a knee twist. Fingers crossed.”
