Rushden & Higham embark on a Senior Vase challenge this weekend.
Tomorrow’s game sees them head over to the West Midlands for an encounter with Edwardians – Junior Vase finalists in 2011 – who are so far enjoying a season of success just like their visiors.
It is a trip into the unknown but Rushden player-coach Stuart Riding is hoping his men can come out on top and maintain a representation in the cups.
“When we got through we had a look at the potential opponents and saw the shortest possible journeys would be to either Stamford or Rugby St Andrews,” Riding explained.
“We knew if we were away there would be a bit of a trek.
“But it’s nice to go and visit a different club and build up some new links.
“We’re taking two teams and having a bus trip so hopefully we can enjoy the day out.
“We don’t know much about them – and that’s good.
“We do know if we turn up and play we can give anyone a match.
“We just need to make sure we get off the coach and perform.”
