Saints boss Jim Mallinder has revealed Dylan Hartley will miss this weekend’s game at London Irish after sustaining a hairline fracture of his eye socket against Wasps.

Hartley sustained the injury during the second half of the 24-6 win at Franklin’s Gardens on Friday night and was replaced by Mike Haywood.

And Haywood is now set to get a chance from the start at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday as Saints look to make it six wins in as many games in the Aviva Premiership.

“The swelling has gone down but Dylan has got a hairline fracture of his eye socket,” said Saints boss Mallinder.

“It means he will be out short-term and he won’t play this weekend.”
