Courtney Lawes insists England will come back stronger after their Six Nations heartache.

Stuart Lancaster’s side missed out on the title to Ireland on points difference, despite securing a stunning 55-35 final-day win against France.

It was a disappointing blow for Lawes and Co, who were desperate to claim their first Six Nations crown since 2011.

But they will now look to bounce back, with a World Cup on home soil beckoning in September.

And Saints star Lawes said: “It’s a tough one. We let in too many points, but there are a lot of positives to come out of our attack and the heart we showed to keep coming back.

“We just kept retaliating and we couldn’t have given more effort.

“We’ve still got a lot of things to work on, we’re a young team and although we’re disappointed not to win the tournament, we’ll learn from it and get stronger.

“We’ll come back and hopefully this (disappointment) will never happen again.”
