Luther Burrell revelled in the happiest of birthdays as Saints put Treviso to the sword at Stadio di Monigo.
Jim Mallinder’s men scored six tries on their way to a comprehensive 38-15 success that keeps them in the hunt from Champions Cup Pool 5.
Burrell was in celebratory mood after his score secured the bonus point on his 27th birthday.
And Saints will now be hoping for more of the same when they host the Italian side at Franklin’s Gardens on Saturday.
“It’s my first professional game I’ve had on my birthday so I’m thrilled to come away to a place like Treviso and get the five points,” said Burrell.
“Thankfully I managed to get over for a try and get the ball rolling early in the second half, which we managed to finish on a high.”
And he added: “It was tricky at times. They’re a really intense unit, passionate, and they made us work hard for our points.
“They attacked the rucks, attacked the breakdowns and made us fight for our tries.
“Next week’s going to be a huge test for us. The last thing we want is a banana skin.
“We’ve seen what they can do when we get it wrong. They scored two good tries against us so we’ll enjoy the win, but we’re under no illusions that next week’s going to be tough.”
