Jim Mallinder hailed his ‘outstanding’ Saints after they ran in five tries in a 33-14 win against Sale Sharks.
Luther Burrell, George North, George Pisi, Lee Dickson and Phil Dowson all crossed the whitewash in the emphatic triumph at Franklin’s Gardens.
It was Saints’ third success of the season and, just as they did in the opening-day home win against Exeter, Saints had the Gardens faithful on their feet.
Mallinder revelled in the performance of his men and expressed his happiness with the bonus-point victory.
“We’re pleased we’ve got the five points,” he said.
“We played outstanding at times. Some of our tempo, some of our attacking play was very, very good.
“Our defence, generally, was really good. There was some good linespeed and we put in some big tackles.
“We were disappointed to go down to 14 men (through Calum Clark’s sin-binning) and then concede the try.
“We just couldn’t keep the momentum going towards the end of the game, but, overall, we’re happy with that.”
