Rushden darts star James Richardson reached the third round of the second of two PDC ProTour Players Championships in Crawley over the weekend.
After losing 6-0 to Ted Hankey in the first round at the K2 Centre on Saturday, ‘Ruthless’ bounced back on the following day as he claimed a 6-2 victory over Matt Clark before thrashing Chris Thompson 6-0.
But his run was ended at the third stage by Justin Pipe, who recorded a 6-1 success.
It was a case of fine margins for Irthlingborough’s Kevin McDine as he beat Terry Temple 6-5 on the first day before losing by the same scoreline to Terry Jenkins in the second round.
And, on the following day, ‘SupaMc’ suffered a narrow first-round exit as he went down 6-5 to Alex Roy.
Daventry’s Matthew Edgar claimed a notable 6-2 victory over Mervyn King on Sunday before losing 6-4 to Les Wallace. On the first day he was beaten 6-4 by Chris Thompson in the first round.
Fellow Daventry player Kevin ‘The Artist’ Painter beat Liam Kelly 6-2 in the first round of the opening competition before slipping to a 6-5 reverse to Stuart Kellett.
Painter went one better on Sunday as he beat William O’Connor 6-4 and saw off Paul Rowley 6-3 but he was beaten 6-1 by former world champion Steve Beaton in the third round.
