Kettering snooker star Kyren Wilson is through to the last 16 of the Shanghai Masters.
The 23-year-old was making his second appearance in the ranking tournament and had few problems as he eased through his wildcard round match.
Wilson knocked in breaks of 70 and 65 as he saw off China’s Wang Yuchen.
That set up a last 32 meeting with world number nine Joe Perry today (Wednesday).
And Wilson, who is ranked number 54 in the world, produced a fantastic display to advance to the next stage.
The Northants player lost the opening frame but immediately hit back to level thanks to a break of 56.
Perry responded with a break of 66 to go 2-1 up but that sparked Wilson into life as he won the next four frames to clinch victory.
A break of 55 made it 4-2 and he battled back in what proved to be the final frame to secure his spot in the last 16 of the tournament.
Wilson will play Michael Holt in the last 16 at 7.30am BST tomorrow morning.
