Wellingborough player Jamie Walker helped England to overall victory in the Junior British Isles International Series.

England began with a 104-29 win over Ireland, even though Walker’s rink lost their leg by five shots.

However, they bounced back to win their leg against Wales by 16 shots and help England to an overall 97-59 success.

That left England with the simple task of knowing if they beat Scotland in their final match, they would take the overall title.

But an English defeat would leave the door open for the Welsh to snatch the honours with a win over Ireland.

In the event, the English kept their side of the bargain, although the Scots pushed them close.

Walker’s rink won their leg 21-15 and England took the match 76-72 to lift the Joyce Brimble Memorial Trophy for the first time since 2010.
