Corby’s Daniel Keatings confirmed his return to top form by claiming two titles at the British Gymnastics Championships at the Echo Arena in Liverpool.
Keatings, who is set to represent Scotland in this year’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, produced a new personal best to claim the gold medal in the pommel horse on Sunday before also adding the parallel bars title for good measure.
That came after he sealed bronze in the all-around event earlier in the weekend.
Keatings held his own in the all-around competition and there were just 0.2 points between him and eventual champion Max Whitlock going into the high bar but an unfortunate fall pushed the Corby star into third spot.
However, Keatings rose to the occasion in the pommel, which saw him up against Olympic medal winners Louis Smith and Whitlock.
After a series of difficult routines, Keatings claimed a personal best score of 16.133 to take the gold ahead of Whitlock and Smith, who had to settle for bronze.
And Keatings still had time to add the parallel bars title to a fine weekend as he again demontrated his depth across all pieces.
A solid routine earned him a winning total of 16.000 as he finished ahead of Dan Purvis and Whitlock.
