With only two more days left of the Saturday Summer Series at Hollowell Sailing Club, Anthony Stevens continues to hold the overall lead.

Last weekend’s racing provided classic entertainment to a crowded audience of young onlookers fresh from completing Youth Week Sailing and Sailboarding.

The racing got underway amidst a heavy downpour which left a sodden bunch of competitors, as well removing what had been a decent breeze.

Solo sailor Gerry Burnham took advantage of the early wind to get ahead of Laser sailors Ian Clark and Simon Bickers to win the first race.

However, with the wind dropping in the second race, the Lasers cleaned up. Bickers took first place, ahead of Clark and Alistair Duncan.

The weekend also saw day six of the Sunday Summer Series, which is also drawing to a close and currently sees Laser sailor Simon Cray leading overall, ahead of the Playle Duo and Keith Lancaster.

With many competitors currently away, the turnout was surprisingly healthy.

Once again, Cray dominated much of the racing, winning two races out of the three.

Solo sailor Lancaster did well in the first race to grab second place on a day which was largely ruled by Lasers.

Martin Hudson and Clark also sailed well, claiming top three positions in the days racing.

With racing continuing this weekend in the penultimate day for both series, competitors will be chasing hard to try to remove the existing leaders from the table.
