Two Northamptonshire archers represented their country with distinction at the European Outdoor Youth Archery Championships in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Recurve archer Bradley Denny (Archers of Raunds) took gold with team-mates Joe Ground and Jack Masefield in the Under-18 Men’s Team event.
They swept past the Czech Republic 6-0, Russia 6-2 and the Netherlands 6-2 to land a gold medal match against Turkey.
And there was never any real doubt who was going to take gold, as Great Britain eased to a 5-3 win.
Archery GB’s performance coach Songi Woo said: “It was a stunning 59 end to land the gold and become champions of Europe.”
Also in action was John Bull (Targetcraft Archers) who was competing as part of the GB under-20 team in the Compound Bow discipline.
Shooting in the team event, they reached the final against Sweden but were beaten into the silver medal spot.
Bull also just missed out on bronze in the individual event as he finished highly-creditable fourth place.
