KETTERING swept the board at the final round of the Northants CRA Late Spring Handicap Road Race Series, providing the day’s winner in David Robinson and securing both the overall individual title through Joel Lewis and the team prize.
Robinson, from Desborough, came out on top in a bunch sprint after three laps of the 10-mile Old circuit as, once again, the long and middlemarker groups came together and organised themselves well enough to keep the scratch riders at bay.
Robinson crossed the line ahead of Michael Salter (Rockingham Forest Wheelers), the winner of the previous round, and Steve Coulam (Welland Valley) with Lewis taking fourth place to clinch the series title and Blair Adams fifth to complete Kettering’s scoring trio.
Rob Swannack (45 Road Club) finished sixth, ahead of Rockingham Forest pair Guy Emberson and Ian Dick, with the top 10 completed by Phil Garlick (45 RC) and Vic Barnett (WVCC).
Kev Hardwick (45 RC) finished second in the overall series behind Lewis with Salter and Adams sharing third place and 45 Road Club were second team.
The Association’s midweek Summer Series begins on Thursday, June 7, on the Middleton circuit.
