The Woodland Pytchley Point-to-Point meeting at Dingley this weekend has been called off.
Heavy snow on the course, and little prospect of sufficient improvement in conditions before the weekend, has caused the traditional Easter Saturday racing to be postponed.
Until 10 days ago there was confidence that, despite the heavy rain in the area, the meeting could have gone ahead.
But last weekend’s snowfalls removed any likelihood of raceable conditions on the course on Saturday.
Officials are considering whether an alternative date is possible in view of the already crowded calendar and an announcement will be made later this week.
Luke Wheeler, the Woodland Pytchley MFH said: “We made the decision as early as we could for the sake of both our owners, trainers, jockeys and the thousands of spectators who support the Easter meeting each year. “Last-minute cancellations are a major inconvenience to everybody concerned.”
