Connor earns his call-up as County prepare for a trip in Middleton Cup

CONNOR CINATO will be become one of the youngest players ever to represent Northamptonshire in the Middleton Cup on Saturday.

The County men travel to Felixstowe & Suffolk BC to take on Suffolk with Kettering Midland Band’s 16-year-old Cinato’s call-up being the highlight.

Rink One: Matt Wordingham (Rushden Town), Martin Cinato (Kettering Midland Band), John Haines (Desborough Town), Vernon Gearey (Kingsthorpe).

Rink Two: Rob White (Northampton Express), Jonathan Brown (Abington), Roger Tansley (Kingsthorpe), Paul Broderick (Wellingborough).

Rink Three: Richard Lemon (Northampton Express), Connor Cinato (Kettering Midland Band), Ray Castle (Kingsthorpe), Neil Corbyn (Wellingborough).

Rink Four: Callum Height (Thrapston), Alan Ashby, Jamie Walker (both Northampton West End), A N Other.

Rink Five: Tony O’Leary (Abington), Jack Tobin (Rushden Town), Dominic Graham (Northampton Express), Jim McKee (Kingsthorpe).

Rink Six: Dave Love (Wellingborough), Matt Pownall (Thrapston), Phil Reeve, Darren Childs (both Kingsthorpe).

Travelling Reserves: Martin Gearey (Roade), Daniel Height (Thrapston).

Non-travelling Reserves: John Freeman (Abington), Keith Height (Thrapston), Mick Malins (Rushden), Iain Walker (Kingsthorpe).

Desborough’s Rebecca WigfieldDesborough played in the trial at Norgren BC and she felt that she had shown the selectors that she has what it takes to play for her country.

And although she has not been selected as a first choice member of the team, she has 
got a place as a Non-travelling Reserve for the forthcoming International Series to be held at Llanelli, Wales on July 22 and 23.

Higham Ferrers beat Kislingbury in the first round of the Women’s Top Club competition.

It was a close match, which saw the four disciplines shared, but Higham took it by just three shots in a 69-66 win.

Higham Ferrers and Daventry will meet in the final of the Womens’ County Triples in July.

Both triples will represent Northants at the National Championships in Royal 
Leamington Spa in early 
August.

The quarter-finals of the Men’s County Fours will be held at Rushden Town on May 31.

Thrapston will take on Wellingborough, Oundle face Abington, Heyford play Desborough and Daventry meet West End.
