Premier Division champions-elect Burton Baptist A recorded a 6-4 win in a tough encounter against an improving Corby A side.
Chris Ross was unbeaten for the leaders after coming from behind to beat Lee O’Boyle in five ends.
Terry Cardwell also came back from 2-0 down to beat Mickey Clarke 2-11, 7-11, 13-11, 12-10, 11-3, before losing in four ends to Aiden Smith and then getting the better of O’Boyle.
O’Boyle did gain one win when he beat Dawid Pryzybysz, coming back from two games down to win in the decider.
Smith beat Przybysz in another five-end match and then teamed up with O’Boyle to take the doubles. Baptist now require a maximum of four points from their last match to be certain of retaining their title.
In the battle of the two relegated teams, Alex Ramsden’s treble proved to be the difference as Westfield B beat Corby B 6-4. He was supported by Brian Wooding (2) and Tom Wildman, with Corby’s points coming from Henry Arthur (2), Aaron Moore and an Arthur/Moore doubles win.
Westfield A and Arthingworth played out a draw with Sam Wildman returning to form with an excellent hat-trick for the loss of just one end. Charlotte Binley achieved another superb win when she beat Chris Gibbons.
Mick Edwards and Nigel Metcalfe both won twice for Arthingworth but could not get the better of the Wildman/Binley doubles partnership.
