Two goals from Mark Forbes earned Stewarts & Lloyds a valuable 2-2 draw at Boston Town as they bid for safety in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division.

On a day when just two of the local UCL clubs managed to see any action as the programme was decimated by the torrential rain, the Foundrymen moved three points clear of the dropzone as they twice came from behind in Lincolnshire.

Mark Foster gave the home side the lead on 28 minutes but Forbes levelled six minutes later.

The Poachers regained the advantage 12 minutes into the second half thanks to Josh Ford but the Corby side secured a share of the spoils when Forbes converted a penalty just past the hour.

The result means Daren Young’s side are three points clear of second-from-bottom Harborough Town with both teams having 11 games left.

The only other north Northamptonshire team to play was Desborough Town and they went down 5-1 at leaders Holbeach United, who kept their quest for the title firmly on track.

Andy Tidswell put the home side in front and Jason Turner doubled the lead after 21 minutes.

Luke Churchill gave Ar Tarn a lifeline when he pulled one back two minutes into the second half but the hope was shortlived as Turner struck again to restore the two-goal advantage.

The Tigers didn’t look back after that with Ben Brown heading home the fourth before Craig Parker completed the scoring.
