The quarter-finals of the NFA Hillier Senior Cup take centre stage on a busy night of local football action this evening.
Corby Town, who are on the back of two successive wins in the Blue Square Bet North, head to reigning ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division champions Long Buckby for their last-eight clash.
And the other tie to be played tonight sees Steve Walker’s Desborough Town host UCL rivals Cogenhoe United. The game between Kettering Town and Wellingborough Town, which was also due to be played tonight, has been postponed due to the Poppies’ well-documented problems.
There is also a busy evening ahead in UCL Division One, with the pick of the games being a local derby at the Dog & Duck as AFC Rushden & Diamonds look to get their season back on track against Raunds Town.
Mark Starmer’s Diamonds side suffered a penalty shoot-out defeat at the hands of landlords Wellingborough in the Knockout Cup at the weekend while Raunds claimed a 1-1 draw at Wootton Blue Cross.
Elsewhere, Thrapston Town – impressive 1-0 winners over Harrowby in the Knockout Cup on Saturday – head to Bourne while Rushden & Higham host Eynesbury.
Rothwell Corinthians, currently under the leadership of Gary Nichols and Lee Ainsworth, sealed a fine a 2-0 success at Olney Town on Saturday and they will be looking to follow that up at home to Potton United tonight.
Whitworth, meanwhile, are in for a stern test at London Road as they take on high-flying Sileby Rangers. The Flourmen suffered a 4-1 home defeat to Eynesbury on Saturday.
The game between Northampton Spencer and Burton Park Wanderers has been called off.
