Sunday League round-up - Millers cruise into the last eight

Victoria Millers breezed into the quarter-finals of the Rushden & District Sunday League’s Gordon Howes Memorial Trophy with an emphatic 14-3 victory over FC Phoenix.

Lee Purser led the way with four, Jamie White and Niall Belfon both hit hat-tricks, James Gorman scored twice while Dan Thompson and Joe Judge also found the net. Jon Tite, Shaun Melville, taking his tally for the season to 20 goals, and Stuart Fenemore replied for Phoenix.

Kettering United also moved into the last eight as Dave Laughton and Martin Turriki earned them a 2-0 success over Stanwick Rovers.

Two quarter-final clashes were also played with Ventura Vikings easing through thanks to a 5-1 victory over Sargents. Adam Randall, Callum Ward, Ian Adcock, Tom Randall and Wes Bone did the damage as Leigh Butler struck the consolation.

Saxon are also into the semi-finals as Duane Hall and Liam Swane secured a 2-0 verdict over Woodford Stars.

Raunds Warriors eased into the last four of the Wells & Young Senior Cup with a 5-1 victory over Irchester Sports.

Raunds’ scorers were Alex Wills, Danny Tarr with a double, Liam Bulmer and Ryan Elmore. Irchester’s consolation came from Mark Wheeler.

There was an Easter Monday clash in Division One of the league action as the Irchester derby between Romans and Sports ended in a 1-1 stalemate. Scott Hughes was on target for Romans while Michael Manuel sealed a point for Sports.

K-Town Ducks consolidated their position at the top of Division Two with a 4-2 win over Isham Rangers, courtesy of goals from Jordon Cunningham, Luke Churchill, Mark Bussey and Michael Tolton.

Orchard Park kept up the pressure at the top of Division Three with a 4-0 defeat of Shelley Road Reserves. Khaled Ezzatt led the way with a double while Blayne Chester and Gary Park completed the scoring.

Dunhill United kept their push for promotion alive with a 5-3 victory over Saxon Reserves as Simon Anderson’s hat-trick was backed up by Antony Lawrence and John Tarry. Saxon’s replies came from Ashley Taylor, with a double, and Dave Walford.

Exiles climbed towards mid-table safety with a 4-3 verdict over bottom club Wellingborough Allstars. Andy Lewis struck a brace while Chris King and Marcus Lewis were also on target. It meant the efforts of Chris Coles (2) and Brady Smith were in vain.

Raffertys continue to the lead the way in Division Four and their latest success was an 11-0 annihilation of FC Hornets.

Jack Stevens hit four, James Wager and Martyn Lambeth both scored twice and the other goals came from Brinsley Elliott, Jamie Hook and Tony Walker.

Croyland Park Rangers swapped places with Horseshoe as they beat them 3-2 thanks to Ashley Nunn (2) and Corey Abbott.

Elsewhere, Orchard Park Reserves climbed above Risdene Rovers on goal difference with a 4-2 success. Orchard’s scorers were Callum Attfield, Samuel Johnson (2) and Wade Keevil. Risdenes goals came from J Woodward and Stuart Millar.
