Ricky Miller is set to play some part in Corby Town’s pre-season friendly at Bedford Town tomorrow.
The striker, who has been in red hot form for the Steelmen during the build-up to Blue Square Bet North campaign, didn’t play in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Rugby Town as speculation ran rife that he was on his way to join former Corby boss Graham Drury at Stamford.
But Steelmen boss Ian Sampson has confirmed Miller is likely to be part of a strong squad that will travel to The Eyrie.
“Ricky should be involved at some point,” Sampson said.
“He has got a suspension to serve at the start of the season so we do have to look at other options.
“He hasn’t signed for us yet but we are getting there, slowly.”
Sampson, meanwhile, is expecting a tough examination from the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier side, who are managed by former Rothwell Town boss Nick Platnauer.
And the Steelmen manager confirmed he will have a full squad to choose from with the exceptions of Nathan Horne, who is unavailable, and Andy Holt, who will be rested after completing 90 minutes at Rugby on Tuesday.
“I think it is going to be a tough game for us,” Sampson said.
“But that is what we want at this stage of pre-season.
“These games against Rugby and Bedford are nearer to what we will be facing once the season begins.
“They are good tests for us and Bedford certainly won’ be a pushover.”
