Raunds joint-manager Russ Baxter wants to finish the UCL Division One campaign on a high.

The Shopmates enjoyed a good few days over the past week as they followed Saturday’s 2-1 defeat of Burton Park Wanderers with a 3-1 victory against local rivals Thrapston.

And ahead of their clash with Whitworth at Kiln Park, Baxter wants to see another good performance.

He said: “Whitworth have been a bit indifferent, like us really, and it will be another difficult game.

“We’ll go into the game with a plan, we’ll be positive, and our aim is to finish the season as high as we can.”

Baxter’s counterpart at Burton, Joe Smyth, will be looking for win number two of his reign as he takes his side to Northampton Spencer.

Burton beat Rushden & Higham 1-0 in midweek for just their second win of the season and Smyth believes that real progress is being made.

“I can definitely see improvement there, the morale among the players, considering where we are in the league, is fantastic and the best of this side will come in the next three to four weeks.”

Elsewhere in the division, Rushden & Higham face title-chasing Eynesbury, Rothwell Corinthians visit Harrowby and AFC Rushden & Diamonds travel to Bugbrooke St Michaels.

In the top flight, Irchester have 10 games remianing to save their season and that starts with the visit of Quorn to Alfred Street.

S&L Corby are still in trouble at the wrong end of the table and they make the trip to Sleaford and Desborough are on the road at Long Buckby.

Wellingborough Town, with six wins from their past nine games, are at home to Spalding.
