Thrapston Town claimed a fine 4-1 win at Blackstones in Division One of the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League on Wednesday night.
Four goals in 46 minutes proved decisive for Ian Walker’s side as Cory James hit an early double before Luke Stevens added a brace of his own to help seal victory. Kieran Arthur replied for the hosts.
That win for Thrapston came after their rivals had played on Tuesday night.
Raunds Town maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 2-1 win over local rivals Whitworth at Kiln Park.
Karl King put the Shopmates in front but Jamie White levelled for the Flourmen on the hour. But Marc Harrison earned Raunds all three points 10 minutes from full-time.
Honours were even in another local derby as Rothwell Corinthians and Irchester drew 1-1.
Rob Barnett gave Corinthians a half-time lead but the Romans pulled level on 65 minutes through Dan Turiccki.
There was disappointment, however, for Rushden & Higham as they went down 3-0 at home to Olney Town and for Burton Park Wanderers who were thumped 6-2 at St Neots Saints with Leigh Chapman and Deven Ellwood grabbing the consolations.
