Boss Shaun Sparrow says his Rothwell Corinthians heroes are sticking together.

Jordan Henson, top scorer last season with 24 goals, is among the players who’ve been offered money to leave Seargents Lawn, but Sparrow says he expects to retain “95 per cent” of the squad that took Corinthians into the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division.

Sparrow said: “Four of the lads have been offered money to go elsewhere and they aren’t going.

“That shows what a great spirit we have here. They enjoy each other’s company and they enjoy playing for Rothwell Corinthians.

“It’s really refreshing at a time when money seems to play such a big part in football at this level.”

Sparrow also expects to add “two or three” new signings to his squad.

He said: “We are well aware that we will be the only team at this level without a budget, but talks have began and we will be looking to bolster the squad with two or three new additions.

“I know who they are and a couple of players I’ve spoken to say they will be there at our first training session on June 23.

“We know it’s going to be tough in the Premier Division, but the lads are up for the challenge.”

UCL Division One sides Rushden & Higham United and Thrapston Town will be part of the Ground Hop Weekend, which will officially signal the start of the new season.

The Lankies will travel to Blackstones on Saturday, August 1 (1.45pm) while Thrapston host St Neots Town Saints on Sunday, August 2 (10.45am).

Harborough Town and Yaxley will face off in the Premier Division on Friday, July 31 (7.45pm) while Oakham play Buckingham in Division One on the Saturday (7.45pm).
