Scott hopes Corinthians can put it all together

The joint-manager felt his team produced their most “dominant 45 minutes of the season” in the first half of last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Peterborough Northern Star.

But it was the visitors who took a second-half lead before an own-goal earned Corinthians a point.

“The first half was probably our most dominant 45 minutes of the season and I am not sure how we didn’t score,” Scott said.

“We must have had 15 corners and put 20 crosses into their box and we played well in difficult conditions but we didn’t take our chances.

“And then we have given them a soft goal but we got one back and we had further chances after that.

“It was frustrating but we will go again and Oadby are a very spirited team and they showed that when we beat them at home.

“We will have to be on our guard but we will go there looking for all three points.”

Stuart Goosey has urged his Wellingborough Town side to maintain their high standards of late when they travel to struggling Harrowby United tomorrow.

Despite a 4-2 home defeat to second-placed Deeping Rangers last weekend, Goosey was pleased with his team’s display.

And now he wants them to ensure they stay at the same level for the rest of the season.

“We played very well and it came down to a couple of errors we made and with the quality they have, they punished us for it,” the Doughboys boss said.

“I thought them scoring four goals against us flattered them a bit.

“It’s the usual thing, you naturally raise your game against teams at the top and then, for whatever reason, they drop when you play teams lower down.

“That’s where I come into it. I have to make sure the players maintain the standards they have set for themselves.

“We have been playing well week in, week out for a while now and the lads just need to keep that going until the end of the season.”
