Desborough Town produced their best result of the season so far as a fine second-half showing saw them end Huntingdon Town’s unbeaten start in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division.

The visitors had dropped just four points all season up until this game but they were swept aside after Aaron Davies had given Ar Tarn the lead on 56 minutes.

Michael Byrne doubled the advantage with a free-kick seven minutes later and Ian Walker’s men wrapped up a fourth league win in a row when Shaun Goodall struck late on.

AFC Rushden & Diamonds maintained their two-point lead at the top of the table as they claimed a comfortable 5-1 success at bottom club Long Buckby.

Tom Lorraine’s early goal was cancelled out by Ed Kostiuk but Matt Gearing and Jason Turner, from the penalty spot, made it 3-1 before the break.

Liam Dolman struck in the second half and Gearing wrapped up a good afternoon for Andy Peaks’ men as he completed his brace.

Wellingborough Town made it a hat-trick of wins for the local clubs as they extended their unbeaten run to five matches with a 2-1 victory over Harrowby United at the Dog & Duck.

Scott Liebscher gave the Doughboys the lead but it looked like they would have to settle for a point when Scott Webb levelled on 81 minutes.

However, Dan Spaughton grabbed the winner for Wellingborough in the final minute.
