Goosey's Doughboys seal a fine away success

Wellingborough Town solidified their mid-table position in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division with a 4-0 success at struggling Harrowby United.

Stuart Goosey’s side were 1-0 up at the break after Jack Wisniewski converted Lloyd Buckby’s pass.

But they ran away with it in the second half as Joe Rich, a second for Wisniewski and Albert Akinremi wrapped up a comfortable victory.

Irchester United produced an excellent display and result as they beat high-flying Olney Town 4-2 at Alfred Street in Division One.

The Romans led 2-0 at half-time thanks to Ryan Lovell and Dan Spaughton’s penalty.

Olney fought back early in the second half and they drew level by the hour mark.

However, Irchester won it with two goals in the final 15 minutes as Tom Gordon put them 3-2 up before Matt Keenleyside rounded it off.

The battle between top and bottom had a predictable outcome as Stewarts & Lloyds went down 4-1 at Daventry Town.

Ross Harris and Phil Cassidy scored for the leaders in the first half and Scott Sandy made it 3-0 soon after the restart.

Dan Rogers pulled one back for the Foundrymen but Tom Liversedge grabbed a fourth for the hosts late on.

The local derby at Hayden Road ended in stalemate as Rushden & Higham United drew 1-1 with Thrapston Town.

Both goals came in the first half with Thrapston taking the lead before Tom Martin grabbed the Lankies’ equaliser.
