Ryan Goodband was the hero for Rothwell Corinthians as they claimed a 1-0 victory over Peterborough Northern Star in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division.

Goodband struck 10 minutes before half-time at Sergeants Lawn and that proved to be enough for Shaun Sparrow’s team.

Stewarts & Lloyds’ promotion hopes in Division One suffered a setback as second-placed ON Chenecks moved eight points clear of them with a 2-1 success at Occupation Road.

Goals from Ash Ogden and Tom Caton put the visitors in control and Michael Byrne’s late strike proved in vain as Chenecks held on.

An incredible second-half display proved decisive for Whitworth as they crushed bottom side Burton Park Wanderers 7-2.

There was little sign of what was to come with the two teams level at 1-1 at the break after Chris Gilligan’s goal for Wanderers had been cancelled out by Cavell Jarvis.

But four goals in 18 minutes after the restart changed the game as Dan McGovern, Ant Lawrence (2) and Jarvis put the Flourmen 5-1 up.

Jamie White and Dan Bendon struck in the final 10 minutes before Aidan Peden’s penalty for Burton completed the scoring.

Raunds Town inflicted a first defeat of the year on Blackstones as they secured a 3-2 win at Kiln Park.

Zac Fisher put the visitors in front but Raunds turned things around before the break with Karl King, Nat Gosnal-Tyler and Nick Harrison putting them 3-1 up.

And those goals were enough as Blackstones could only reply with a late consolation from Sam Strange.

Thrapston Town extended their unbeaten run to eight matches but they were denied all three points by a late goal as Rushden & Higham United earned a 1-1 draw at Chancery Lane.

Jack Wisniewski gave the hosts the lead 10 minutes before half-time but the Lankies earned a share of the spoils when Daryl Lawman levelled late on.

Irchester United suffered a fifth successive defeat as fourth-placed Potton United ran out 3-0 winners at Alfred Street thanks to goals from Kenny Smith (2) and Marc Umney.
