Stewarts & Lloyds will be all-but relegated from the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division if they fail to beat high-flying Cogenhoe United at Occupation Road tonight (Tuesday).

The Foundrymen are nine points from safety following Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat to Sleaford Town and while they could match Newport Pagnell Town’s current points tally from three matches, their goal difference is 21 worse off meaning that defeat this evening will see them condemned to Division One football for next season.

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, Wellingborough Town have the chance to strengthen their grip on seventh spot when they take on Holbeach United at the Dog & Duck. The Doughboys were beaten 2-1 at home by Cogenhoe at the weekend.

In Division One, Irchester United made it two wins in the space of 48 hours last night (Monday) as they claimed a 2-1 victory over local rivals Burton Park Wanderers at Alfred Street.

Having shocked Lutterworth Athletic at the weekend, Colin Ridgway’s team picked up another success as John Bowden put them in front in the second half.

Deven Ellwood levelled for Wanderers with 18 minutes to go but Jack Dyson scored with his first touch after coming off the bench as he earned the hosts all three points.

Both sides are back in action tomorrow (Wednesday) night as the Romans head to bottom markers Woodford United while Wanderers take on Potton United at Latimer Park.

Rothwell Corinthians have a tough assignment this evening as they head to champions Oadby, Rushden & Higham will be looking to put a spanner in the works of promotion-chasing Eynesbury Rovers as they meet at Hayden Road and Whitworth make the the trip to Bourne Town.
