Whitworth are set to resume their promotion push with another local derby this weekend.

The Flourmen missed the chance to close the gap on the top two in ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Division One on Tuesday night as their match at strugglers Stewarts & Lloyds was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

James Mallows’ team still have four games in hand on second-placed Bugbrooke and are just four points behind.

Having dispatched Rushden & Higham United 4-0 last Saturday, Whitworth will be hoping to rack up another win when they make the short trip to Latimer Park to take on second-from-bottom Burton Park Wanderers.

S&L, meanwhile, return to action with the toughest of tests as they head to Daventry Town tomorrow for a top versus bottom clash.

Irchester United are currently on a tough run of fixtures and it continues this weekend when they take on third-placed Olney Town at Alfred Street.

The Romans, who have just four games left this season, were beaten 3-1 at Bugbrooke last Saturday having claimed a 1-1 draw at leaders Daventry in the previous week.

Raunds Town will be hoping to pick up another home win when they entertain Bourne Town. The Shopmates saw off Lutterworth Athletic 3-1 at Kiln Park last weekend.

There is another local derby at Hayden Road as Rushden & Higham take on Thrapston Town with both teams looking to bounce back from defeats last time out.
