The undoubted game of the day in Division One of the United Counties League is at London Road tomorrow (Saturday).

It will see third-placed Whitworth take on second-placed Lutterworth Athletic.

The Flourmen have enjoyed an excellent season under boss James Daldy and assistant-manager Tommy Jaszczun, who previously played at Kettering Town and Northampton Town.

Whitworth go into the clash on the back of five successive league victories, one of which was a 10-1 drubbing of St Neots Town Saints.

Lutterworth, meanwhile, were long-time leaders of the division but were knocked off top spot in dramatic fashion last weekend.

They led Northampton Spencer 3-1 with just three minutes but conspired to lose 4-3 as the visitors struck twice in stoppage-time.

Both teams will be looking to keep the pressure on new leaders Peterborough Sports, who are a point clear of Lutterworth with Whitworth sitting a further four adrift.

The Division One action gets under way at Kiln Park tonight (Friday) when Raunds Town take on local rivals Thrapston Town.

In-form Rothwell Corinthians, who now sit in the top five, entertain Bourne Town at Sergeants Lawn tomorrow while Rushden & Higham have a big task on their hands as they head to leaders Peterborough Sports.

Irchester United play their first game for two weeks when they face Woodford United at Alfred Street and Burton Park Wanderers also have home advantage against sixth-placed Northampton Spencer.

It has been a torrid season for Stewarts & Lloyds and their quest for a first point after losing all 16 league games so far continues at Blackstones.
