Whitworth sit proudly at the top of the early standings in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Division One after they inflicted an 8-0 hammering on Burton Park Wanderers at Latimer Park.

Having won 3-0 at Stewarts & Lloyds last weekend, the Flourmen followed that up with a powerful display as they moved into a 6-0 lead before half-time.

Former Burton man Deven Ellwood opened the scoring and also grabbed the third with Luke McDonald on target in between as Whitworth were 3-0 up inside 16 minutes.

Ellwood completed his hat-trick before James Gorman and McDonald again put the game to bed.

The second half was more low key but Remy Brittain netted the seventh before another ex-Wanderers Cavell Jarvis completed the scoring.

Raunds Town are another side with a 100 per cent record after they claimed an impressive 4-1 success at Blackstones.

Dave Townsend put the Shopmates in front, only for Giuliano Staffieri to equalise for the hosts.

However, Fernand Bass regained the lead for Raunds and second-half goals from Townsend and Jamie Russell rounded things off.

Irchester United were unable to build on their 7-3 victory at Bourne on the opening day as they went down 4-1 at Bugbrooke.

Brad Jones and Chris Griffin gave the hosts a two-goal cushion before Jack Dyson gave the Romans hope with 20 minutes to go.

But Mitch Blande’s own-goal and Ryan Nash’s strike in the final 10 minutes sealed the points for the Badgers.
