The Flourmen, who are enjoying a superb campaign in James Mallows’ first season in charge, returned to winning ways in midweek after salvaging a last-gasp 3-3 draw at Bourne Town last weekend.

They hit straight back on Tuesday night with a comfortable 5-1 success at bottom side Stewarts & Lloyds thanks to Jonny Hazell, Remy Brittain, Jack Dyson, an own-goal and James Gorman while Jake Buckingham replied for the hosts.

Mallows’ team, who are up to fourth, are on home soil tomorrow (Saturday) when they host Lutterworth Athletic. And their equation for the rest of the season looking pretty simple with seven games to go.

They are five points behind second-placed Daventry Town with a game in hand and six off leaders Bugbrooke with four games in hand.

And Whitworth will be hoping for a favour from one of their local rivals tomorrow as Rushden & Higham United welcome second-placed Daventry to Hayden Road.

For S&L, meanwhile, this weekend sees them make the trip to Burton Park Wanderers.

It has been a huge season of struggle for both clubs with the Foundrymen still bottom while Wanderers sit just a point above them.

They have picked up just 13 points between them this season ahead of what looks to be a straight battle to avoid the wooden spoon.

Elsewhere, Raunds Town will be hoping to build on their 4-0 victory at S&L last weekend when they head to Oakham United.

Thrapston Town have home advantage as they take on Bourne Town at Chancery Lane.
