AFC Rushden & Diamonds’ ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division title hopes suffered a huge blow after they went down to a shock 2-0 defeat at Oadby Town.

Despite adding three new signings in the form of Declan Rogers, Neil King and Luke Fairlamb ahead of the clash, Andy Peaks’ men conceded two goals in the last eight minutes as they were beaten for just the third time this season.

Kurtis Reven put the hosts in front on 82 minutes and the game was up for Diamonds soon after when Sam Taylor completed Oadby’s victory.

With Holbeach United beating AFC Kempston Rovers 3-0, it now means they trail leaders Diamonds by just two points with two games in hand.

Desborough Town produced an excellent display as they ended Eynesbury Rovers’ four-match unbeaten run with a fine 5-2 success at the Waterworks Field.

Lee Bassett put the visitors in front but Luke Cummins equalised and Michael Byrne gave Ar Tarn the lead from the penalty spot before half-time.

Jake Bettles extended that lead in the second period but Eynesbury stayed in the contest thanks to Jordan Nicholson’s goal.

But Ian Walker’s men finished the job in the last 10 minutes as Bettles and Byrne both scored their second goals of the afternoon.

All the goals came in the second half at the Dog & Duck as Wellingborough Town suffered a third successive home defeat when they were beaten 3-2 by Wisbech Town.

Tommy Treacher and Danny Beaumont put the visitors 2-0 up before Jake Newman got the Doughboys back into it.

Treacher struck again to make it 3-1 but Newman again reduced the arrears late on, although Wellingborough were unable to find a leveller.
