AFC Rushden & Diamonds bounced back from their weekend setback to move five points clear at the top of the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division with a 3-0 win over struggling Harborough Town at the Dog & Duck.

Diamonds suffered a shock 2-0 loss at Oadby Town on Saturday but they hit back in style as they took the lead on the half-hour through Jason Turner.

Andy Peaks’ team made the game safe just before the hour when recent signing Declan Rogers marked his home debut by firing low into the bottom corner.

Harborough lost their goalkeeper through injury and Diamonds rubbed salt into the wounds in the final minute when Scott Joseph headed home Elliott Lamb-Johnson’s cross.

Diamonds are now five points clear of second-placed Holbeach United, who have three games in hand.

All the other matches involving the local clubs last night were postponed.
