AFC Rushden & Diamonds have the chance to move into the top five in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division tonight (Tuesday).

Mark Starmer’s team take on local rivals Stewarts & Lloyds at the Dog & Duck knowing that another win will see them leapfrog Wellingborough Town into fifth place.

Diamonds go into the clash on the back of a 2-1 success at Sleaford at the weekend while Kevin Byrne’s S&L side will be looking to halt a run of seven successive defeats – the latest of which was a 1-0 loss at Cogenhoe United at the weekend – which have seen them gradually drop down the table.

There is also a busy night of action in Division One with the standout fixture being Burton Park Wanderers’ clash with runaway leaders Oadby Town at Latimer Park.

Joe Smyth’s team moved into the quarter-finals of the NFA Junior Cup at the weekend and will be looking to avenge an 8-0 hammering they suffered at Oadby earlier this month.

Elsewhere, Thrapston Town will be looking to follow up Saturday’s 3-0 success over Bugbrooke when they take on high-flying Harrowby at Chancery Lane while Rushden & Higham will be hoping to put their Junior Cup exit at the hands of Stanion Redstar behind them when they entertain Northampton Spencer.

Rothwell Corinthians head to ON Chenecks and Whitworth are also on the road at Olney while Irchester United will be eyeing all three points when they welcome bottom markers Woodford United to Alfred Street.

Raunds Town are in action tomorrow (Wednesday) night when they make the trip to Blackstones.
