The big game of the night in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division this evening (Tuesday) is at Compton Park as AFC Rushden & Diamonds make the short trip to take on Cogenhoe United.

Mark Starmer’s Diamonds moved back into second place with a 3-1 victory at Holbeach United as they replaced the Cooks, who now sit third, after they claimed a 1-1 draw at Huntingdon Town.

Diamonds sit a huge 20 points behind leaders Spalding United with Cogenhoe a further point back and while the two county rivals do battle, they may also have a keen eye on what happens as the relentless Tulips head to AFC Kempston.

Elsewhere, Wellingborough Town return to league action with a clash against struggling Harborough Town at the Dog & Duck.

Craig Adams’ Doughboys head into the game in high spirits after booking themselves a place in the last four of the UCL Knockout Cup with a 4-1 victory at Lutterworth Athletic on Saturday.

In Division One, Irchester United will fancy their chances of building on Saturday’s excellent 2-2 draw with leaders Oadby Town when they make the trip to bottom markers Woodford United this evening while Whitworth, 2-1 winners over Buckingham at the weekend, head to ON Chenecks.

Oadby, meanwhile, are back in Northamptonshire tomorrow (Wednesday) night when they go to Chancery Lane to take on Thrapston Town, who were beaten 3-0 at home by Rothwell Corinthians at the weekend.
