Desborough Town picked up one of their best results of the season so far as they made it a perfect 10 game unbeaten.

Ar Tarn made the trip to take on fellow high-fliers Holbeach United and picked up a superb 2-1 victory, which sent them into third place in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division.

But Jake Bettles levelled just past the hour and then the winner arrived four minutes from the end when home defender Nick Jackson turned John Dean’s cross into his own net.

And they had to battle back again in the second half as the Fenmen regained the lead, only for Jonny Hazell to grab the home side’s second equaliser.

It was, however, a bitterly disappointing day for Rothwell Corinthians as their good form came to an end when they were beaten 2-0 by lowly Cogenhoe United at Sergeants Lawn.

Raunds Town’s impressive form in Division One continued as they maintained their lofty position in the table with a 3-2 success at Buckingham Town.

Remarkably, all the goals came inside the first 27 minutes.

Jamie Russell’s early goal was cancelled out by the hosts before Gavin Wills regained the lead for the Shopmates.

Buckingham levelled again but Dave Townsend grabbed what proved to be the winner just before the half-hour mark.

It was a disappointing day for fellow high-fliers Whitworth, however, as they slipped to a 4-2 defeat at Melton Town.

Thrapston Town followed up their fine FA Vase victory with a big away win as they triumphed 6-0 at Woodford United.

First-half goals from Wayne Brown, Daley Ellis and Chris Hope put the visitors in charge.

And they didn’t take their foot off the gas in the second half as two goals from Charlie Parkin were sandwiched by a Mason Thomas effort.

The local derby at Alfred Street went the way of Irchester United as they inflicted another defeat on Burton Park Wanderers with Ty Clark scoring twice in their 5-0 success.

Rushden & Higham United suffered a 1-0 defeat at Bourne Town with Craig Rook’s goal proving to be decisive and it was another day to forget for Stewarts & Lloyds as they lost 7-2 at Daventry Town, Greg Purcell scoring both goals for the Foundrymen.
