Dale Brunton believes a top-10 finish is “massively achievable” for Rushden & Higham United in Division One of the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League.

The Lankies take on third-placed Peterborough Sports at Hayden Road on Saturday after claiming a superb 5-1 victory over high-flying Whitworth on Boxing Day.

And boss Brunton has set his sights on the top 10 during the second half of the season.

“The boys have reacted well since we came in here and they have done everything that has been asked of them,” he said.

“It was a great win on Boxing Day but the game was a lot closer than the scoreline suggests.

“We have another tough game on Saturday and then go to ON Chenecks on Tuesday so it’s a hard spell.

“But the top 10 is the aim and it is massively achievable.”

Whitworth will be keen to get back on track on Saturday following their Boxing Day hammering at Hayden Road but will have their work cut out as they host leaders Northampton Spencer.

Irchester United face a big test as they take on second-placed Lutterworth Athletic at Alfred Street while Raunds Town welcome ON Chenecks to Kiln Park.

Thrapston Town head to Blackstones while the team they beat on Boxing Day, Burton Park Wanderers, are also on the road at Bourne Town.

Stewarts & Lloyds’ search for a first point of the season will continue at Bugbrooke.

And Rothwell Corinthians face a stern examination in the UCL Knockout Cup as they make the trip to Premier Division high-fliers Holbeach United.
