Desborough Town took the bragging rights as a late goal earned them a 1-0 success at local rivals Wellingborough Town in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division at the weekend.

Jake Bettles settled the contest when he struck the winner for Ar Tarn nine minutes from the end.

Rothwell Corinthians slipped to a 3-1 defeat to Kirby Muxloe at Sergeants Lawn.

Danny Sheahan gave the visitors a half-time lead, which was doubled by Dan Agar 10 minutes into the second half.

Callum Plowright pulled one back for Corinthians but Sheahan struck again to complete Kirby’s victory.

Burton Park Wanderers’ long wait for a first win of the season in Division One finally came to an end at the 20th attempt as they stunned fourth-placed Potton United with a 1-0 success.

Chris Gilligan was the hero for Wanderers as his 25-yard free-kick shortly after half-time proved decisive.

Rushden & Higham United completed a quickfire double over Woodford United as they claimed a fine 6-2 away win.

Sam Birtwistle put them in front before a Jack Dyson brace made it 3-0 before the break.

Woodford got back into it with goals from Paul Beevor and Adam Creaney but Dyson completed his hat-trick and Craig Harrower struck twice in the last seven minutes to wrap it up.

Raunds Town became the latest victims to runaway leaders Peterborough Sports but the 2-1 defeat only told part of the story at Kiln Park.

The Shopmates took the lead through Karl King and held on until the 69th minute when Ollie Medwynter levelled for Sports.

And the table-toppers made it 17 wins from 17 league matches when Medwynter popped up with the winner in the final minute.

Irchester United fought back on three occasions to draw 3-3 with Bugbrooke at Alfred Street.

It was 2-2 at the break with Bugbrooke’s Jamie Hall twice seeing his efforts cancelled out by Ryan Lovell.

Sean Nicholson gave the Badgers the lead for a third time but Nathan Heycock struck soon after as the match ended in deadlock.

Thrapston Town claimed a 2-2 draw at Oakham United, who opened the scoring through Ben Easson, only for Liam Hanley to level.

Jedd Whiteman gave Thrapston the lead five minutes into the second half but Easson grabbed his second of the game to ensure it finished all-square.

Honours were also even at Bourne Town as Whitworth took a point in a 3-3 stalemate.

Zak Munton was Bourne’s hero with a hat-trick while Cavell Jarvis (2) and Alfie Taylor were on target for Whitworth.

Stewarts & Lloyds suffered a shock exit as their NFA Junior Cup third-round match against Netherton United was finally played.

The tie was switched to Netherton following two postponements at Occupation Road and S&L found themselves 2-0 down to goals from Adam Scott and Lee Clementson.

Michael Byrne started the comeback just before the break and David Sheridan made it 2-2 on the hour.

But, with a penalty shoot-out beckoning, Steve Mastin hit a last-gasp winner to send Netherton through.
