Desborough Town extended their unbeaten run to 12 matches, although they left it late to claim a 2-1 victory over Peterborough Northern Star at the Waterworks Field.

The visitors went in a goal up at half-time thanks to Levi Wright’s effort on 19 minutes.

But just when it seemed Ar Tarn’s fine run was going to end, Jason Turner levelled and then Dan White won it in stoppage-time.

It means Desborough remain in third place in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division - five points behind leaders Peterborough Sports with a game in hand.

Rothwell Corinthians were unable to follow up their midweek success at ON Chenecks as they went down 3-2 at second-placed Eynesbury Rovers.

Jory Mann cancelled out Allan Owen’s opener for Eynesbury but Craig Smith and Tom Coles made it 3-1 before the break. Jordan Henson pulled one back for Corinthians but that was the end of the scoring.

Wellingborough Town conceded five goals for the second game in a row as they went down 5-1 to Sileby Rangers at the Dog & Duck on Friday night.

Alfie Taylor grabbed the Doughboys’ consolation.

Raunds Town bounced back from their midweek defeat at Irchester United in emphatic style as they hammered struggling Woodford United 8-1 at Kiln Park.

The big win moved the Shopmates back to within a point of Division One leaders Olney Town.

Nick Harrison was the hero as he struck four of the home side’s tally while Danny Tarr struck twice. And goals from Dave Townsend and Jamie White rounded things off, although Woodford did grab a late consolation.

There was a seven-goal thriller at Hayden Road as Rushden & Higham United eventually got the better of local rivals Irchester United.

The Lankies led 2-1 with Ash Adebayo scoring both goals before the Romans hit back to lead 3-2.

However, there was late drama as Dan Turiccki levelled and then Ryan Kalla sealed a 4-3 victory for the hosts.

The clash between Stewarts & Lloyds and Thrapston Town at Occupation Road ended prematurely after Thrapston’s Daley Ellis suffered a serious injury.

The score was 2-2 at the time with Dan Rogers scoring both goals for the hosts and Charlie Parkin doing likewise for Thrapston.

Whitworth had few problems in progressing to the next stage of the UCL Knockout Cup as they thumped Division One rivals Lutterworth Athletic 5-1 at London Road.
