Desborough Town were the only local side to see any action on a day when the weather was the ultimate winner in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League.
But Ar Tarn were unable to take advantage of their game at Yaxley being one of only a handful to go ahead as they suffered a 3-1 defeat.
The hosts, who moved into second place behind Premier Division leaders AFC Rushden & Diamonds thanks to the victory, took the lead through Andy Furnell and then doubled their advantage before half-time through Rob Hughes.
Mark Redding gave Ian Walker’s side hope seven minutes into the second half but Yaxley confirmed their victory courtesy of an Aaron Davies own-goal.
Despite Diamonds seeing their trip to Sileby Rangers called off, it proved to be a fruitful day for them in the race for the title as Holbeach United were unable to close the gap after they suffered a 3-2 home defeat to Cogenhoe United.
It means Diamonds are seven points clear of Yaxley, who have a game in hand, and they remain eight ahead of Holbeach who have three matches more to play.
Wellingborough Town’s game at Huntingdon was postponed as were all the matches involving the local clubs in Division One.
