Rushden & Higham United took the local bragging rights as they beat Thrapston Town 4-3 in a Boxing Day thriller in Division One of the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League.
It was the only UCL game involving clubs from the Northamptonshire Telegraph area to survive after the recent wet weather.
And it was Lankies boss Aidy Mann who was celebrating at the end as his team grabbed a winner in the fifth minute of stoppage-time at Hayden Road.
Thrapston took the lead through Ben Sunderland but Lewis O’Dell levelled before half-time and Craig Harrower put the hosts in front on 53 minutes.
Callum Noble equalised for Thrapston with 15 minutes to go but they fell behind for a second time when Daryl Lawman grabbed Rushden’s third.
Danny Darker looked to have sealed a point for Thrapston with yet another equaliser but there was a sting in the tale as the hosts finally settled the contest thanks to Ben Lord’s dramatic late goal.
