Tommy Wright is hoping the Corby Town fans come out in number over the next week to have a look at his new-look squad.
The Steelmen take on what is expected to be a near full-strength Milton Keynes Dons at Steel Park tonight (Tuesday, 7.45pm) before their pre-season showpiece – the Steel Park Cup which will include a Newcastle United XI, a Leeds United XI and a PSV Eindhoven XI – follows on over the weekend.
Corby’s preparations for the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division campaign, which kicks off on August 13, have so far seen them beat Eynesbury Rovers 2-1 before they claimed a 5-1 success at Rothwell Corinthians at the weekend.
But Wright believes his team will “see what they are made of” during the next few days.
“We have three home games in six days and I hope the fans come out and have a look at us,” he said.
“I believe Milton Keynes will be bringing 80 to 85 per cent of their first team over so it will be a strong group. They are a League One side and we will see what we are made of.
“We have a squad of good, young lads who have an opportunity to impress clubs from a higher level over the next week and that’s how they should be looking at it.”
Wright, meanwhile, is hopeful both Jamie Anton and Callum Ball will make their first pre-season appearances this evening.
“We left Jamie out as a precaution at the weekend but he will play tonight,” the Corby boss added.
“And Callum was back doing to some running on Saturday so he should feature as well.”
