Corby Town moved to the top of the Southern League Premier Division after they maintained their unbeaten start with a fine 1-0 victory at Chesham United.
Tommy Wright made just one change to his team following the 3-2 midweek success over Arlesey Town with the available-again Cleveland Taylor coming straight back into the side as Connor Kennedy dropped to the bench, which again featured Spencer Weir-Daley.
The first half proved to be fairly even but the crucial moment arrived on the hour when Shane Byrne struck with his first goal for the club.
Weir-Daley made his first appearance of the season from the bench late on and that capped a good day for the Steelmen as they moved above Cambridge City and into pole position.
They will now prepare to take on title favourites St Neots Town at Steel Park on Monday (3pm).
Steelmen: Walker, Thomas, Jackson, Malone, Appleton, Daramola, Mills, Milnes, Carvalho, Byrne, Taylor. Subs: Kennedy, Clarke, Weir-Daley, May, Wright.
