Corby Town were dumped out of the Calor League’s Red Insure Cup as St Neots Town sealed a 3-0 success in the second-round tie.
The Steelmen included midfielder Charlie Binns, who has been with Histon this season, in their line-up while, as expected, Aman Verma was handed his first start since joining on loan from Stockport County.
Josh Carpenter started in goal while youngsters Zac Moon and Harry May, the latter of which signed senior forms with the club earlier, in the day, were handed places on the bench.
After a goalless first half, the Steelmen fell behind soon after the restart when Jay Davies put the hosts in front.
The Steelmen did hit a post but St Neots wrapped up their victory thanks to further goals from Lewis Hilliard and former Kettering Town striker Lewis Wilson.
The result means Corby can focus solely on their Premier Division campaign, which continues at Redditch United on Saturday.
Steelmen line-up: Carpenter, Thomas, Jelleyman, Carruthers, Gascoigne, Binns, Ives, Verma, Wright, Berwick, Fox. Subs: McGowan, Walker, Moon and May.
