Corby Town claimed a place in the first round of the FA Cup with an excellent 3-1 win at Colwyn Bay.

Late goals from Nathan Rooney and Sam Ives proved to be decisive for the Steelmen as they won away from Steel Park for the first time this season.

At 1-1 with 10 minutes left on the clock, a replay on Wednesday looked to be on the cards but the visitors, who were good value for their victory, found an extra gear and will be eagerly awaiting the outcome of tomorrow afternoon’s draw.

In north Wales , Stuart Hendrie put the Steelmen ahead in the 22nd minute and this is how it stayed until the interval.

Rob Hopley equalised for the home side with 14 minutes remaining but Rooney restored the visitors’ advantage in the 80th minute and Ives wrapped things up on the stroke of full-time.

Steelmen: Walker, Thomas, Carruthers, Malone, Gascoigne, McGowan, Berwick (sub, Ives), L Hendrie, Wright, Rooney and S Hendrie. Subs: Shariff, Healy, Jelleyman.
