Tommy Wright has made a double swoop in the wake of Corby Town’s FA Cup exit at Norton United this week.
The Steelmen have signed former Leicester City defender Jamie Anton and ex-Rothwell Town midfielder Liam McNally as they look to end a run of four games without a win when they take on Paulton Rovers at Steel Park tomorrow (Saturday).
Corby return to Southern League Premier Division this weekend having been dumped out of the FA Cup by lower-ranked opposition.
Lewis Jackson was released in the build-up to Tuesday’s replay at Norton while Shane Byrne suffered a hamstring injury during the 2-1 defeating, leaving Wright with little choice but to dip into the transfer market.
Anton, who was released by Leicester during the summer and McNally, who has played in Canada, America and Australia, both featured for the Steelmen during their pre-season victory at AFC Rushden & Diamonds.
And both have now been added to a Steelmen squad who are without a victory in September after making a flying start to the season last month.
Anton is primarily a centre-half, who can also play at right-back, and Steelmen boss Wright said: “We are pleased to bring Jamie to the club.
“He comes highly recommended from Leicester City and certainly impressed us when he featured against AFC Rushden & Diamonds during pre-season.
“Liam, like Jamie, is another player who impressed us during pre-season when he featured.
“He has plenty of experience for a lad of his age and we are pleased to have another Corby lad on board.”
Both players will go straight into the Corby squad to take on Paulton tomorrow.
