It was a case of ‘one in, one out’ for Corby Town as they attempt to “freshen things up” ahead of the Calor League Premier Division run-in.
The Steelmen have released midfielder Nathan Rooney following his second spell at the club after questions were raised over his fitness.
And joint-managers Andrew Wilson and Tommy Wright moved quickly to fill that gap with winger Claudiu Hoban signing on a dual registration from Skrill North outfit Histon.
Ex-Leicester City youngster Hoban lists Daventry Town, Rugby Town and Kettering Town, where he had a trial spell, among his former clubs.
And Wilson, who also explained the reasons behind Rooney’s second departure from the club this season, revealed Hoban will go straight into the squad to face Truro City at Steel Park on Saturday.
“There were agreements between us in terms of Nathan attending training and as they were broken we have seen an unfit Nathan Rooney who has not been the same player that we know he can be,” Wilson said.
“There is no doubting his fantastic footballing ability, but we could not continue to carry an unfit player in the ranks.
“Tommy and I felt that we needed to freshen things up and would like to wish Nathan all the best in his quest to get fit.
“We are really pleased to bring Claudio in, he is a very good footballer.
“He is based in Wellingborough so it provided us with a good opportunity to bring him in.
“Claudio will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s game against Truro.”
